Philadelphia is one of the best and the worst places in the summer. It's the best because there are so many great pop up spaces and events like Spruce Street Harbor Park or Parks on Tap, as well as close proximity to the ocean, making day trips to Ocean City or even Asbury Park totally doable. Unfortunately, this geographic delight is also the source of my one major gripe about living in this city: the HUMIDITY. Even if it's not THAT hot, you walk outside and are instantly drenched in sweat. Even at night, when the sun has gone down and the sky is completely black, (well, as black as it can be with all this light pollution) you toss and turn because you're just laying in a puddle of sweat. It's bad. I recall one night when I was working in TV, I was already in a bad mood and I walked out to my car at 1AM and just yelled, "STILL?" But... I digress. 

When you've grown up in this mess, you learn quickly that breathable, natural fabrics are a life saver, so when I found this jumpsuit while on a thrifting mission, I snatched it RIGHT up. Gingham is summery already so having it in a breezy silhouette and light fabric makes it perfect for a fashionable evening out in Philly, or even just right for a day of errands. (I also love wearing it with sneakers!) 

Because I was taking a stroll around Rittenhouse, (what many would consider the city's shopping district) a not-quite-dressy but not-quite-casual look was what I went for. I paired the jumpsuit with these summery flats and a statement necklace. Nothing more, nothing less. When it's this humid, you want the fewest amount of items on your body at all times. Because I'm practical, I added a purse. (I considered just going with the jumpsuit's pockets—yes! It has pockets!—but I thought that maybe a bag might complete the look. Some may say that a black bag and white shoes shouldn't be done but I say "screw the old rules." Do what you want.
