Bow Tie & Stripes
This look is absolutely a nod to a younger "me." I don't quite know how, I think it's mostly my shaggy bangs. (Trying to grow them out has inspired many pep talks into my mirror; beginning with me feeling insecure and ending with me pleading with myself to put down the scissors because if I keep cutting my fringe, it'll never grow.) It's a mélange of some of my favorite elements: stripes, that's a given. Lots of black, of course. Pointy ankle books, duh. And, I don't think I'll ever fall out of love with oversized floppy bow ties.
The mostly-empty room serving as the backdrop for this somewhat casual shoot will someday be my office/a music room but, for now, it completes the mid-2000's indie darling vibe I inadvertently cultivated here. Shitty wood blinds, old radiators, and guitar cases is totally an *aesthetic.*
Yeah, at first I was annoyed that the skirt is a tad short for these tights and the thicker "gotta keep the tummy in" parts are showing, but, hey. It's a look, right? Here's to never being afraid to go too short.
xo, e.m.
