What's In Our Bags?

Who remembers the old days of blogging? I kinda miss ‘em. Those days were a lot simpler, and not every post had to be some life-changing moment. (That’s a little bit of a self-own.) In the spirit of getting back to everyday simplicity, we’re sharing what’s in our bags. Before looking, can you tell which one is mine and which one is Mallory’s? They’re both equally pink, just in different ways.

E.M.’s Bag

It’s a wonder that I can fit so much into this little bag. The difference between city life and country life is most palpable in my everyday carry items. I carried a fairly small bag in the city but always “supplemented” it with an over-packed canvas bag which often held my work computer, a book for my morning subway commute, my MMA gloves for Krav, a large S’well bottle, a change of clothes, a few protein bars—you get the idea. Now, I drive everywhere. I’m not the biggest fan of it (I miss walking and taking the trains, buses, and trolleys in Philly and New York) but my back is thankful.

The HoneyPot Company Wipes - I like these “single-serve” wipes. They’re natural and gentle, which makes them good for makeup, cleaning up sticky fingers if you’re like me and spill your drinks, and for “lady reasons”—you know, you have your period, you’re out on a date, etc. LINK

Aesop Rind Body Balm - This is technically a body balm but I love how it makes my hands feel. I’ve been going through hand cream like crazy lately because of all of the sanitizer so it’s very much a necessity. Plus, like every other Aesop product, it smells wonderful. LINK

Louis Vuitton Pocket Organizer - This was a little “made it through 2020”—a year that was shitty on a personal level as well as the obvious reasons—gift to myself. I love a slim wallet. I switched to it from a cardholder that was even more minimal. This one feels a little more elegant and is a little roomier. LINK

Milk Makeup Kush Lip Balm - I love this balm, it’s one of the only ones that I consistently finish before losing. It’s creamy, and the un-tinted one that I prefer tastes and smells nice and minty. LINK

Rouje Lip Palette - I love these palettes. (The one pictured here is “Madamoiselle.”) Not only does the color go well on the lips, but also the eyes and cheeks for that playful, “can’t be bothered,” French girl look. It doubles as a compact as well, plus it’s just very pretty. LINK

Teasing Comb - Now that I’ve committed to bangs, I have to carry a comb to tame them. I have to tease them a bit at the root every so often and then smooth ‘em over to avoid this weird cowlick that I developed.

A Pen - Fun fact: I’m always the friend with the pen. I used to carry a journal with me, and would like to start again. I just need to find a tiny little one.

Glossier Boy Brow - Glossier’s whole ethos makes me feel old and un-hip but I do love this product. I keep an extra in my bag to re-fluff my eyebrows and even—don’t judge me for this—instead of mascara on my lower eyelashes (my look) if I need a touch-up while I’m out. LINK

Albuterol - Shoutout to my fellow asthmatics up there, here’s to our rescue inhalers taking up precious space in our bags.

Mallory’s Bag

In Mallory’s pink OnTheGo, you’ll find: Airpods, Machete gold barette, LePen pink pen, Moonlight by Ariana Grande body mist, Switch lite (in a case that I bedazzled!), keys, spare mask ( complete with mascara stains), Kasey Musgraves x Boy Smells Matches, Lime Crime Wet Cherry Gloss, Fenty Gloss Bomb, Glossier Cloud Paint, spare nail glue—in case I need to repair a press-on on-the-go, 35mm film, Instax mini polaroid printer
