Journey Responsibly With Single Prop Rum
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a cocktail recipe (possibly Thanksgiving of 2015?) so you know it takes a very special kind of spirit to win me over. I did a little Instagram campaign with Single Prop Rum and loved their entire brand and mission so much that I decided to share about it on my blog as well. (Plus, oh wow, this rum is quite smooth.)
While I’m not usually a rum drinker, I decided to give Single Prop a shot when they reached out and asked if I’d be interested in joining for a park cleanup with Riverfront North last weekend. My years in branding have developed such a soft spot for mission-driven organizations that are actually—you know—making good on their talk. When the good people at Single Prop sent over some more information about the brand, I quickly learned that the beach cleanup was only one piece of everything they’re doing for the environment.
Not only does Single Prop only use sustainable packaging, (their iconic bottle tops are made of repurposed wood from coconut trees and their shrink wrap is made from plant matter) but every person who signs up online for their #NoPlasticsPact online will get a custom pack of biodegradable paper straws from to jump start their sustainable journey towards safer sipping practices. (Plus, aren’t they super cute?)
Single Prop Rum has plenty of cocktail recipes on their website, but I decided to make a quick drink with that I had at home, which happened to be a twist on a classic: a strawberry mojito.
What do you need? it’s pretty simple, actually
Single Prop Rum
Sparkling Limeade
Fresh Mint
Strawberries
Make sure you also have some ice and your Single Prop paper straws as well.
All you need to do is muddle a fresh strawberry (quartered, so it’s a bit easier) with a few pieces of mint at the bottom of a glass. Layer some ice on top, pour in a shot and a half of Single Prop Rum, add sparkling limeade and more ice.
So tasty, plus you’ll know you’re helping the earth while you’re sipping! Win, win, win.
